The Many Benefits of Celery Juice and How to Take It

It may have become a trend in recent years, but the benefits of celery juice have been well-known in the juice cleanse community for far longer than that.

Celery, a vegetable many people rarely interact with except to give to their kids with peanut butter, is in fact a healing powerhouse!

Here are a few of the benefits of celery juice and how to incorporate it into your diet.

Digestive Bolstering

Celery is one of the vegetables that can help to restore and build hydrochloric acid reserves in the stomach.

Hydrochloric acid plays a key part in how well you break down and digest your food, so anyone with digestive challenges might consider giving celery juice a try!

Minerals and Vitamins Galore

Celery is high in vitamins C, A, and K, as well as having lots of potassium, magnesium, iron, and folate. Did you know that a cup of celery has more potassium than what’s in half of a banana?

It also has healthy sodium which the body needs for proper functioning, but which will never result in water retention or blood pressure issues. It’s the perfect form of sodium!

It is also high in antioxidants, making at a great anti-aging and beauty food.

Alkalizing Power

Most of us have pH levels in certain organs or systems in our body that are too high.

How to take celery juice

First off, like everything in nutrition, there is no all-or-nothing situation here. If you drink a bit of celery juice once per week, that is still better than nothing! Any amount of celery juice, just like any amount of any veggie juice, will have a benefit to your body.

That being said, if you want to do a true experiment with celery juice, I recommend you drink 16 oz per day.

While many people like to drink it first thing in the morning, in my experience it doesn’t really matter what time of day you have it or whether it is the same time each day. It just matters that you have it.

You can also incorporate that 16 oz of celery juice with other juice. For example, you could drink 32 oz of juice which is a mix of various veggies and fruits, but which is mostly made up of celery. This would also count. You will still get the benefit of celery juice if it is combined with other kinds of juice.

Remember that no juice or supplement or superfood is a miracle food which will compensate fully for an otherwise poor diet and lifestyle habits. For best results, in addition to your celery juice, focus on healthy, plant-based meals, lots of water, exercise and movement, and minimize or eliminate alcohol, sugar, animal products, refined flour, fried food and processed food.

Celery juice is a truly unique food. It is a low-calorie, low-glycemic veggie with tons of water and tons of vitamins. It should be a staple in any adult’s diet, not just your kids’ diets with their peanut butter!s
